1. What this covers
This Acceptable Use Policy is part of the Terms of Service and applies to everyone who uses OwnWorth, on any device, including everyone you invite into your household. If this policy and the Terms ever conflict, the Terms control.
"OwnWorth", "we", and "us" mean OwnWorth, LLC. "The Service" means the OwnWorth apps, the web app, and this website.
2. Use OwnWorth for your own belongings
OwnWorth exists to help you document, value, and decide what to do with things you own or are lawfully responsible for. That includes cataloging an estate you are administering, a household you share, or a client's property you have been engaged to inventory.
It does not include cataloging someone else's property without their knowledge.
3. Photos, video, and audio of other people
The Voice Walk records your narration and interval photos, and item capture takes photographs. Those run in your home, so the responsibility for who appears in them is yours:
- Don't capture people who haven't agreed to be captured. Several states require every person being recorded to consent to audio, so get that consent before you begin.
- Don't capture children other than your own, and think carefully before capturing your own.
- Don't capture anyone in a bathroom, bedroom, or any other setting where a person would reasonably expect privacy.
- Don't capture in a place where recording is restricted by law, a lease, or a workplace rule.
- If you're inventorying someone else's home, get their permission before you start filming.
4. Content you may not upload
Don't put any of this into OwnWorth:
- Content that is illegal where you are, or that you don't have the right to use.
- Sexual content involving minors, or any content that exploits or endangers a child. We report this to the authorities.
- Content that infringes someone's copyright, trademark, or other rights.
- Malware, or anything designed to damage or gain unauthorized access to a system.
- Someone else's personal or financial records that you have no right to hold.
5. Don't misuse the AI features
Identification, valuation, condition assessment, and listing copy are generated by AI and are estimates. They are not appraisals, not authentication, and not proof of provenance. So:
- Don't present an OwnWorth estimate as a certified appraisal, an authentication, or a guarantee of authenticity.
- Don't use a generated valuation to mislead an insurer, a buyer, a court, a tax authority, or anyone else.
- Don't try to make the AI produce content that breaks this policy, and don't work around its limits.
- Don't send automated bulk requests designed to exhaust the metered AI features, yours or anyone's.
If an AI result is offensive, wrong in a way that matters, or looks like it came from somewhere it shouldn't have, report it from inside the app or email us. We read those.
6. Selling and donating
When you list an item through a connected marketplace, that marketplace's own rules apply on top of these. Describe items honestly, including condition and any flaws. Don't list things you don't own, can't legally sell, or have already sold. Donation paperwork OwnWorth generates is a record of what you told it - the accuracy of the claim you make to a tax authority is yours.
7. Don't attack or abuse the Service
- No probing, scanning, or testing the security of the Service without our written permission.
- No scraping, crawling, or bulk-extracting data other than your own household's, and no automated access outside the app and the documented exports.
- No attempt to reach another household's data, or to defeat the access controls that separate households.
- No reverse-engineering non-public parts of the Service, except to the limited extent the law allows, and no reselling or white-labeling it without our written permission.
- No overloading, disrupting, or degrading the Service for anyone else.
- No sharing your account credentials, and no creating accounts by automated means.
If you find a security vulnerability, tell us at security@ownworth.co before you tell anyone else. We will not pursue a good-faith researcher who reports privately and gives us a reasonable chance to fix it.
8. Age
You must be at least 13 to use OwnWorth, and at least 18 to buy a subscription. A user between 13 and 17 uses OwnWorth with a parent or guardian's permission, and any subscription for that user is bought by that adult.
9. Reporting a problem
To report content, behavior, or an AI result that violates this policy, use the reporting option in the app or email hello@ownworth.co. Tell us what you saw and where. To report copyright infringement, follow the notice procedure in the Terms of Service.
10. What happens if you break this policy
Depending on what happened and how serious it is, we may remove content, limit or suspend a feature, suspend or terminate the account, or report the matter to law enforcement. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and give you a chance to export your data. For anything involving a child's safety or an active threat to the Service or its users, we act first.
11. Changes
If we make material changes to this policy we'll update the date at the top and notify you in the app or by email before they take effect.
